Important Information

2014 Fall Picnic

October 18, 2014

11am - ??

The fall picnic will soon be upon us.

We will be holding the picnic at the same location as last year at Ohiopyle State Park.

Detailed directions will follow.

The club will provide burgers, hotdogs, and drinks. Those attending are asked to bring a covered dish. In addition to marking if you are attending, please let us know what dish you'll be bringing so we don't wind up with to much of one type of food.

You can now follow the WPS on Twitter for up to date info about events, outings, and meeting.

Special Interest Group for
Novice Photographers

The WPS will be holding monthly SIG

meetings specifically for those members who

want to learn or review the basics.

Margie Jenke has kindly volunteered

to manage these meetings.

The meetings will be held at the Ligonier Town Hall on the first
Thursday of each month, from 7-9PM in room A.

To register call Margie at 724-238-7766. She would prefer to talk
with you personally so that she can answer any questions you might have.

The next meeting will be on September 4, 2014

WPS Experienced SIG Meeting

Thursday September 25, 2014 at 7pm.

Location - Panera Bread (VIP Room), Route 30 by WalMart.  There is no charge for the private meeting room but Panera has asked that we not bring our own food or beverages to the meeting.

We will share and discuss recent photo News, then respond to attendees seeking answers to their specific Questions, and then move to the main topics for the evening...

The main presentation and discussion topics for September will include...

  • Rex discussing image sizing and resizing for final prints from Photoshop
  • Discussion and use of the Content Aware Fill tool in Photoshop to remove undesired visual elements from images
  • Since previous videos were enjoyed, we will have two short videos with several national photographers on a photo-shoot discussing their visualization and final images.  The fist video takes place in the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest - Bishop, California.
The second photo-shoot takes place in Jasper National Park - Alberta, Canada.
Due to Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas falling on Thursdays in the last quarter, this will be our final eSIG for 2014.  Before the meeting ends we will summarize our "likes" from this year's meetings and talk about eSIG objectives for 2015.  Give this some thought.
